Reception Pupils Welcome Local Police, Fire Brigade, and Nurse for Special Visit

Reception pupils at Newfield Park Primary Academy were thrilled to receive a visit from local police officers, firefighters, and a nurse as part of their “People Who Help Us” topic. The visit aimed to inspire young minds by showcasing the important roles these professionals play in the community.

The children had the opportunity to learn about the work of police officers in keeping the community safe. They explored various police equipment, listened to engaging stories, and even had the chance to try on police uniforms. The officers were enthusiastic and answered the children’s many questions, providing a fun and educational experience.

In addition to the police, the fire brigade and a local nurse also visited the school, giving the children a broader understanding of the vital services that help keep the community safe and healthy. This event not only introduced the children to potential future career paths but also challenged traditional gender stereotypes, emphasising that all careers are open to everyone, regardless of gender.

Steve Payne, Principal of Newfield Park Primary Academy, said: “It’s so important for children to learn about the people who play such a vital role in our local community.

“These visits bring their learning to life and help them imagine the possibilities for their future careers. We’re also committed to breaking down gender barriers and showing our pupils that they can pursue any profession they dream of. We are very grateful to the officers and other professionals for taking the time to speak with our pupils.”

The “People Who Help Us” theme is a key part of the Reception curriculum at Newfield Park Primary Academy, helping children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them and laying the foundation for their future aspirations.
