Newfield Park Spreads Festive Cheer With Festive Afternoon Tea

Newfield Park Primary Academy truly embraced the spirit of the season by hosting its much-loved annual Christmas Lunch, welcoming elderly residents from across Halesowen for an afternoon of connection, joy and festive cheer.

This year, the school added a fresh twist by transforming the traditional Christmas lunch into a charming afternoon tea. Guests were treated to a selection of sandwiches, scones, biscuits and sweet treats, including many festive favourites such as mince pieces and crackers. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the heartfelt carol performance by the Academy’s year 5 pupils, which brough smiles and much applause from the audience.

In preparation for the event, pupils crafted personalised invitations, carefully designing and writing each one by hand. These invitations were then delivered personally by staff and pupils to members of the community, adding a thoughtful and intimate touch to the occasion. This effort reflects Newfield Park’s ongoing commitment to nurturing meaningful relationships with its neighbours.

Steve Payne, Principal at Newfield Park Primary Academy, said: “Hosting our community Christmas lunch is a cherished tradition here at Newfield Park. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring generations together and share the joy of the festive season.

“This year’s afternoon tea was a delightful twist, and the children’s contributions – from their creative invitations to their beautiful carol singing – were truly heartwarming. Seeing the smiles on our guests’ faces was a reminder of the impact these events have, and it’s an honour to build such meaningful memories for everyone involved.”

This much loved tradition showcases the Academy’s dedication to inclusivity, kindness and the true essence that makes the festive season so special for many. By bringing people together across generations, the school continues to celebrate the values of generosity, togetherness and joy with special experiences like this.
