Onjali Q. Raúf, the bestselling author of Boy at the Back of the Class, recently visited Newfield Park Primary Academy to share insights into her brand-new book, The Letter with the Golden Stamp. Pupils were thrilled to meet Onjali and hear about her writing journey, gaining inspiration for their own creative pursuits.
During her visit, Onjali discussed the story behind her latest book, which tells the heartwarming tale of a young girl’s adventure to uncover a missing letter. She captivated pupils with stories from her own life, explaining how she became an author and how she finds inspiration for her characters and plots.
The children were particularly excited to ask Onjali questions, from learning about the challenges of writing a book to hearing her best tips for becoming a successful writer. Onjali’s advice to the pupils included writing every day, drawing inspiration from the world around them, and embracing the creative process, no matter how imperfect it may seem at first.
Steve Payne, Principal at Newfield Park Primary Academy, said: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome Onjali Q. Raúf to our school. The children were so engaged and inspired by her visit, and it was wonderful to see their faces light up as she shared her creative process with them. Onjali’s message was clear – every child has the potential to be a writer, and it’s through imagination and perseverance that great stories are created.
“I’m sure this visit will have a lasting impact on our pupils, and we’re all excited to see how they apply her advice to their own writing!”
